WORLD CHAMPIONS
Congratulations to Susie Scanlan, a member of the first U.S. Junior Women's Epee team to win the gold medal at World Championships! Susie and her teammates were seeded third for this event, held in Acireale, Italy, the first week in April 2008. En route to the gold medal match, they beat Spain, China, and Estonia. The final match pitted them against the top-seeded Italian team, who enjoyed a strong "home court" advantage with a large and loud cheering section. The American girls took control of the match early and never looked back, eventually winning by a large margin of 9 touches.

The team was coached by Ro Sobalvarro, a member of the National Coaching Staff and our very own TCFC Head Coach.
